Social Justice Fund

The Social Justice Fund is designed to support the activities of organizations that raise awareness of social justice issues through proactive engagement in partnerships, networks and citizen engagement.

MicroFoundation Breakdown

WP Puppet Theatre - 20%

Uses puppets to help diverse groups of people better understand each other, promote diversity, tolerance, and provide a creative platform toexpress controversial and significant social issues. Social justice programs include performances for school-aged kids and a biennial international event to trainpeople how to use puppetry for their own social causes and introduce them to inspiring peer mentors.

Roots of Empathy - 20%

With a mission to build caring, peaceful, and civil societies through the development of empathy so children are less likely to physically, psychologically andemotionally hurt each other through bullying and other cruelties, social justice awareness includes a classroom program that reaches elementary schoolchildrenfrom Kindergarten to Grade 8.

The Arusha Centre - 20%

Provides resources and initiatives on social justice and environmental issues, and inspires and supports communities to connect, gather, andcreate a socially, economically, and environmentally just future through community economic development and community resilience programs.

Apathy is Boring - 20%

A national, non-partisan, youth-led organization with a unique understanding of what it takes to engage young people. Conversations and the Get Involved program workto reverse the declining rates of youth civic and community engagement by engaging, inspiring and raising social awareness among Canadian youth.

Canadian Justice Film Festivals - 20%

Dedicated to broad awareness of many social justice issues, these community based festivals facilitate events that encourage reflection, balanced discussion, and action. Their format includes providing information, and inspiring citizen engagement, through documentary films, moderated community discussions, and connection to local NGOs. Support will be directed to the Sarnia Justice Film Festival and the Fort MacLeod Justice Film Festival (in partnership with the Empress Theatre Society.
