Calgary Public Library Foundation
The Calgary Public Library Foundation was incorporated on March 1, 1999, to raise funds for the purpose of making donations to the Calgary Public library Board. Provides funding for the purchase of books, DVDs, CDs, magazines, and literacy materials for the collections of the Calgary Public Library. Supports targeted literacy programs at the Calgary Public Library, such as “It’s Crime Not to Read,” children’s Storytime, “Reading Buddies,” and more.
Calgary Reads Society
Calgary reads at school: Provides reading tutoring to students identified as struggling at their school, outside of their classroom. Calgary reads at Home: Provides information, tutoring and support to the participants of Calgary Read at School extended family. Improve literacy at home. English Language Learners: Same as the Calgary Reads at School program but specifically tailored for ESL participants.
The Can Learn Society for Persons with Learning Difficulties
Provides services to learning disabled including assessment, remediation and counseling.
The Further Education Society of Alberta
Further Education Society has four core program areas: – We conduct extensive research and develop curricula specifically focusing on the needs of multi-barriered learners. – We run the Calgary Community Family Literacy Program which has four program models: Literacy and Parenting Skills (LAPS), Parent/Child Mother Goose, Books for Babies/Jump Start and Homespun. Over 70 programs are delivered to 800 families per year.
